The breathtaking Sunflowers of Timmering create a golden sea as far as the eye can see, but this stunning sight is available only during the magical month of February.
Adam and Claira Whipp are eagerly preparing to welcome visitors to their beloved annual sunflower spectacle at their picturesque Timmering farm in Victoria.
The dedicated couple nurtures an astounding 12 hectares of sunflowers, lovingly planting an incredible 420,000 seeds each year to create this golden wonderland.
“We sow 35,000 seeds to the hectare, over 12 hectares, so 420,000 plants,” Adam said.
“We do it every year just to bring some joy to families and friends and let them come out, take some photos and play in the sunflowers for an hour or so.”
The Whipps throw open their farm gates on February weekends when the sunflowers are in full bloom.
Visitors can immerse themselves in a sea of golden petals, capture Instagram-worthy moments and even take home a piece of sunshine by picking their own sunflowers.
The experience has been a hit, drawing hundreds from across Victoria, including Melbourne, Gippsland and Ballarat.
As part of the Sunflowers of Timmering experience, Claira puts her photography skills to use, offering sunset photoshoots for families, couples, kids and mates when the sunflowers are at their most stunning.
Adam acknowledges the challenges of cultivating sunflowers, but beams with pride, knowing that the joy and wonder they bring to visitors’ faces make every effort worthwhile.
The exact opening dates in February depend on farming conditions and will be announced closer to the time.
